Cultural Program

The Cultural Program comprises the other part of our very unique curriculum. Like our Phase Program, it also provides a professional and progressive program of martial studies that can easily keep students growing and developing for eight to ten years at a minimum.

Cultural training provides students with a much broader and deeper education with regards to an art or arts. In short, it provides you with in-depth exposure to the art or arts of your choice.

It's like going to college and majoring in a specific field, such as Tagalog, Thai, Bahasa Indonesia, or Cantonese, whereas the Phase Program is like majoring in International Studies.

You would likely learn some things about the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, and China in the International Studies program, but you wouldn't do a "deep dive" on each individual country.

Cultural Program Arts

Our Cultural Program arts include:

Kali

Kali is one of our four cultural offerings.

As a Magda Institute Association school, we are under the guidance p of Guro Cass Magda.

As a student of arguably one of the most influential Filipino Martial Artists of our time, the legendary Guro Dan Inosanto, Guro Cass Magda has extreme expertise in the Filipino Martial Art of Kali.

This expertise is passed to our students.

Muay Thai

Muay Thai is another of our four cultural offerings.

As a Dan Inosanto student, Cass Magda learned much about Muay Thai from Ajarn Surachai Sirisute.

As the head of the Magda Institute Association, Sifu Cass has incorporated elements of Muay Thai in the Phase Program.

But neither of these reasons is why Muay Thai is in our cultural program.

Muay Thai is in our Cultural Program because my wife is from Thailand. This has afforded me the opportunity to train in the motherland on multiple occasions.

I wish to share my studies with our students.

Silat

Silat is yet another one of our four cultural offerings.

Once again, as a Magda Institute Association school, we are under the guidance of Guro Cass Magda.

As a student of arguably two of the most influential Silat Pendekars in the United States during our time, Pendekar Paul de Thouars and Pendekar Herman Suwanda, Guro Cass Magda has extreme expertise in the Indonesian Martial Art of Silat.

This expertise is passed to our students.

Wing Chun

Wing Chun is the final one of our four cultural offerings.

Despite a few elements of Wing Chun being present in the Phase Program of the Magda Institute Association that is not the reason Wing Chun is part of our cultural offerings.

These reason it's included is because I have extensive background in this art, as I studied with Sifu Wayne Jackson for more than a decade.

Note

The availability of any cultural offering is determined by enrollment and schedule.

In other words, all cultural arts may not be available all the time.
